Oliver recently attended MEGUIK 2026 in Nottingham, where he presented findings from his latest collaboration with Antonia Dias Maile and Gerhard Joacham. In his 12-minute talk, he presented new evidence on how GABAergic inhibition shapes cortical timescales and large-scale brain network dynamics. The findings demonstrate that increasing GABAergic activity prolongs neuronal timescales across the cortex and alters the dynamics of key cortical networks, particularly the frontal default mode and dorsal attention networks. Together, the results provide exciting evidence linking synaptic inhibition to the temporal organization of brain activity likely underlying cognition.
